Post subject:  Any Mokes with YJBAB8R chassis prefix in Victoria!?!

Hi,

I'm having fun trying to track down previous registration details on a Moke I have.

It came to me minus engine, compliance plate and any papwerwork. All I have to go on is the Chassis number YJBAB8R4744.

The Australian Associoation of Motoring clubs is trying to find the Moke in pre-1984 VicRoads records.

What I need is the ORIGINAL engine number of a Moke with a close chassis number that was probably registered in Victoria prior to 1984. This will help them find a Moke close to mine and hopefully work through a few records to find mine!

Anyone out there with a Vic Rego Moke with chassis prefix YJBAB8R4### that knows the original engine number of their car?

Cheers,

Any idea of age? Big or small wheel? Etc...

I'd check mine, a 78, but it's at my parents place. 8)

Big Wheeler 1098 engine I do believe
Would be 10YF/U/H***** ? :?

I may have one at home, but I'm in NSW!

Yep, it's about 72/73, 13"wheels, 1098cc

The prefix 10YF/U/H may be enough. But if I can get a complete engine number for one it will help heaps.

Thanks,

I have seen one with that prefix from 68/69.
So that could explain the lack of ID/Compliance plate. :?

The engine number prefix helps, but if I can get a full number that will help more.

That chassis number is pretty close BIAM, but the engine number is a 998 - much later than the car.

It doesn't have the original engine number stamped anywhere on a build plate or something?

Actually Bnicho, the moke I quoted was supplied with a pile of bits including a later 998, I always thought the two didn't belong together? Who knows? The engine number prefix I quoted (10YF/U/H) came from both the Mini car club guide and Mini Kingdom catalogue.

Both these sources have been wrong before!

Have you tried the Moke Forum?

The 998 in my Moke is pre-detox so it could be period but is most likely a mini unit installed when the original died (?)

Most probably, or even a later Moke/Mini one with an early head and no emissions gear. I wouldn't worry about it personally. :)
