my folks found this little clubby hiding in a carpark and when they talked to the owner the girl told em that it had a 1275cc in it bored out to 1300cc, also the engine apparently has a 1.75" SU carby....thats all i know...its got 12" chrome superlights on it and has two monstrous DTM style pipes at the rear (extractors maybe as well) anyway just curious as to what the engine may be from? sorry its a bit too breif but thats all i know....also with the rear theres a slight problem of a bit of rust with the gutter rail things that run down past the lights and is about 5cm long. would this be a simple "cut and paste" of a bit of metal there? not sure if id have to replace anything too great.

oh and before someone observantly points out....the S badge on the front is a fake....its a 1978 model if that helps....but shes all debadged....and has a classy interior. :D

thanks guys/gals
Cap "the N00B"

Does look like a Good Looking CLubby.
the 1275 could be out of anything really..you would need to get the Engine number to be sure
With regards to the rust area...once again it does depend on how desperate it needs to be cut out and resprayed but do remeber the logest its rusting the bigger the hole. Do remember the area...the whole area maybe the entire back end may need to be painted...its something that need to be check closer or pic's put up
It all depends on the price they are offering and your willing to pay

The S is a fake?
Looking at the car it looks like a "Leyland Mini S" so the S badge would be standard (there should also be one on the boot)

How fare away are you from it
Purchase a car...like a house you have to have a good look at it...or if you do not have enought experiance get some one to have a look at it.

Get some numbers...Motor, Head & Body etc

I think they mean it's no cooper S, I get asked a lot, is it cooper S, I always say nah my car isn't and that's that. But I've even been asked in the clubby if it's genuine 'S' I saw yeah, Leyland S not Cooper S, big difference.

<edit> Just like to add that I really like that clubby! It looks awesome and if it's a 1275 with discs and that interior look great it truly is a great mini!

If it has twin tanks well now that would jsut be bonus then wouldn't it?

also i just found out the car is on carsales... hmm now the price..... well asking 8500. but there is the consideration that they might consider a changeover with the BMW...so its something for me to think about

heres the info from carsales

That's pretty minimal rust if that's all there is and no more hiding near by, you could cut it off and weld it shut a bit then get the metal seam covers that you can buy and put em on to cover up the welding.

I think it's probably pretty worth it. It looks good, front spoiler (donesn't really ad to the value tho) warm 1275, discs, chrom wheels, is it 2pac paint? professional, it looks really good from the pic, professional interior and eyah I reckon 8 grand and you'd get it. I think that'd be worthing comparing to what I've spent on my car. However my dad's clubby was a better value deal but not nearly as nice as that! If it's worth it to you then that's all that matters. If you can afford it, well that's another matter again.

ryan that is very true man

the rust is kinda tricky imo, you would need to do quite a bit of painting, or find someone willing to give "blow ins" a go which would work for a everyday driver, but remember when u cut, u miss and make sparks same with the welding, so it wont be taht easy

looks good worth the 8k imo

If it has visible rust, then it will have invisible rust..... Keep that in mind.
