Post subject:  nismo(rris)
was aware that nissan built morry grinder motors and its the same block in the dato 1200
but was very suprised to se the morris major motor i saved (why, i dont know LOL) has nissan cast in the head. heavy/ugly old thing it is too. had to lift it off the trailer, my ring was hanging out so far you could cut washers off it LOL.

So a nissan head will fit on a morris A-series block? :shock:

the nissan copies where knowen as B series engines, very much like the a-series, but a scaled up version... used the same dizzy, dunno bout the curve tho...

NO. I waded into this one a while back.
Not possible- the pushrods and camshaft in the 1.2L Nissan are on the RH side, not LH like all A & B series blocks..
Nice looking head, pity it won't fit.. :cry:

yeah its a bitch that it doesnt fit :( i have one of these heads. when i got it it had been fully recoed, skimmed and acid cleaned , ohwell just sell it on ebay i suppose :P

yeah this thing is a 1500 with a sump.. i never had any thoughts about even attempting to use it.. only saved it from certain death as i figured someone would want it .. have contacted a few morris clubs but havent heard anything back.. (some of the clubs want $20 to place an add (and i only grabbed it to help one of them out) Voltures LOL
so if you know anyone who wants it its for sale cheapish (see other for sale section)
i was just suprised about the nissan casting especially as the tappet cover has a big patent plate on it from england

i assume these things came from morris major cars, but did they also appear in others suspect they may have been used in old MG's. and is it also in the morrie oxcart.
Are they still making these in India??

Last time i was in India, 6 years ago now, they were still making them, called Ambassadors. Basically have not changed a bit since the 1953 design i reckon. Very scary rides in a couple of them -first was taxi from the airport and the other was a driver we hired who kept falling asleep because he was at the cinema all night before.

love that peugot ad where the indian beats his ambassador into a 207 :D

Why would they do that? The B series was used in....

Morris Oxford and its variants
MGA/B
Austin 1800
Morris Major/Austin Lance all series
Various commercial vans in the UK
Anything that didn't use the A series!

The six cylinder C type motor was the B with two cylinders added and made a really good anchor even better than the B due to its weight. This appeared in the MGC, some trucks and cars that we never saw. Was the blue streak in the Austin Freeway a C series? I think it must have been. Now there was another masterpiece of engineering that never did any good.

I was around then, I believe the Freeway motor was a B6 series. Basically a 1622 x 1.5 = 2433cc.
C series is a much bigger block, and has the camshaft on the RH side- unlike A & B series. You can fit triple Webers- ports are not siamesed.

The C series motor was not a B with 2 extra, it was much different.

The Austin Freeway motor was a B series with 2 extra cylinders and was still known as a B series.

I have heard the story of the B series Minis in the Italian Job but I was told that it was just a story.

My apologies. It was still a good boat anchor. I always thoughtt the blue streak and the C type motors were more closely related. Was there an aluminium version of the C? My memory says they raced the MGC with an aluminium version at Sebring.
