I am about to put the side windows back into my resto Mini following the paint job. I need some advice please.

Piano hinges on the centre pliiar - what gasket or substnace do I put between the hinge and the car body. Also how thick do I put it on?

Side rubbers - do I glue them to the beading that goes on first. Also what type of adhesive do I use to keep them in place.

I cant remember wat i did with the piano hinges...

But the rear rubbers i bought bashed on with a mallet and had the rubber attached to the strip that clipped over the seam egde... Same style as door rubbers.

Thanks for your comments guys, but I am really none the wiser.

I have got the moulded strip that goes over the edge seam in place but don't know how to attach the soft rubber seal that goes between the moulded strip and the swing out window frame.

Similarly, what do I do with the piano hinge. No, I tried that but it didn't fit

Any more suggestions anyone.

From wat i can remember, i just screwed the hinge directly to the car.. I doubt the factory did anything different.

The rear window rubbers are the same as the door rubbers. The rubber seal is a part of the strip which goes of the seam edge. Its all moulded as one piece.

Original treatment at the piano hinge was to run a bead of 'black mastic' (window sealant) onto where the hinge was being placed, then screw it down. It sealed the self-tapping screw holes and made the hinge fitting weather proof.
The rubber seal that runs around the body flange of the window opening is just pressed into place, or lightly tapped with a soft hammer. No need for sealant or glue.
Under no circumstances use silasic-type sealers on body panels.

Thanks guys, the mystery has been solved.

I was given a window seal where the moulding strip and the rubber have obviously come adrift - hence my silly question. Thanks for the comments on the hinges as well.
