On the way home today the car (which has been runing excelently all week) developed a slight missfire at low revs. This then turned into a total loss of power and splatering etc. I stoped about a mile from home with the engine dying. just managed to get home on inertia alone.

It seems like a problem with fuel delivery as I'm still uncertain about my new petrol pump. The interesting thing is that the car can be started very easily and revved up as usual and when started it has a few seconds of normal power delivery after which time it starts dying - if you rev it up a bit further it gains power for a second and then dies again. When started and put in reverse it will run much better but again only for a few seconds and then dies.

Oh and with my new petrol pump (purolator\facet posi-flo) the clear disposable fuel filter I've got installed just in front of the carby is never full of petrol. It only ever has some petrol at the bottom of it (never been a problem for running though) is this normal?

Fixed - fuel starvation as I thought - the fuel hose past the petrol pump has softened with time and buckled and folded in two cutting the fuel flow. The very long outlets on all solid state purolator pumps make it very hard to link between the outlet and the metal pipe carying fuel under the mini.

Still need advice re: the metal fuel filter that came with the pump though.

Loosing sleep, time, hair, friends, social life, girlfriends, fitness, money and hope -- thats what owning a mini is all about.

I run the hose in a circle, right around the pump so it doesn't kink.

Yea - I'll be getting a longer fuel hose to do a more elaborate shape. But what do you do about bringing the hose back from the long outlet on the pump? - it'll most likely kink there

I looped both inlet and outlet, even found room for a Ryco filter..
I cable tied the loops together to keep them well away from the muffler.
