Can a 1100 block be interchanged with a 1300? Or is it best to just get a whole 1300? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks |

Different blocks. Can't interchange them. Unless you are talking about a 1275 motor from a Morris 1100S? Matt |

Morris 1100 = 1098cc, smallblock. Mostly manual, a few automatics. Morris 1100S= 1275cc, bigblock. Manual and automatics Morris 1300= 1275cc, bigblock, ALL ARE automatics. The 1300 and 1100S blocks both look the same, but the automatics are all missing some important oilways in the block, which have to be added if putting onto a manual box. See the sticky thread in the mods forum. You can put a 1275 in there in place of an 1100, but you need the 1275 head, primary gear and a few other bits and pieces. |

can you give any more info than that? a 1275cc can be dropped in where an 1098cc was |

Ok well im rebuilding an 1100 out of my mini, n it was segested that i try n get the bigger engine, so i was checking wether it can be done by just swapping the blocks (so to speak) |

The short answer is that just about any long engine can be bolted onto (or made to fit ) any gearbox. Some things (as the Doc just said ) are different between the between and small bore block and a big bore block. This is a stepped crankshaft taper (requiring a 1275 primary gear) and a few other bits. There are small differences but yes is the answer to the major question. |

You would need to swap the whole engine, all the major internal parts are different to an 1100. |

Ummm.. Just to clarify further - I am talking long engines here The 1275 head may be made to fit a small bore but a small bore head on a big bore block - well - naw - Rethink, rethink, rethink. |

I went from a small bore to a fairly quick 1310. It changes the entire dynamics of the car and all of sudden you tend to enter corners and the like at 30 or 40 km faster than you would have previously. Simply because the mini is that much much different. Now, its incredibly important that you can pull up the mini from those extra speeds in a straight line and without an emergency stop. Thats even before you address the legal issues of replacing a small bore with a big bore. To those that argue that small bore are just as dynamic and that drums work just as well - well goodonya, just dont come to Gulgong when my family, friends and aquaintances are on the road. |
