Hi again guys,

How do I tell if the 1970 round nose Mini I'm looking at is in actual fact a genuine Cooper S or not :?: :?: :?: :?:

The old guy who is prepairing it for sale says it is a genuine mark 2 1970 Cooper S & had I have had more time up my sleeve the other day when I stumbled across it, I would have got some more details off of it or him.

Any info on what to look for would be great thanks people. :) :)

Cheers.

the body numbers and engine numbers are your starters..

should be...
9F/Xe/Y for the engine prefix and
YKG2S4 for the body prefix

correct me if im wrong folks

they also have differences in the body (taillights etc) but im not too sure of them so ill let someone else tell ya

also rh tank mounting brackets, cooper s boot board mounting brackets

um biigegr brake master cylinder.

padeded dash rail, basically like the stocko roundie dash, but covered!!

Body prefix for Mk2 S is always YG2S4 ........

Mk2 Cooper S go from YG2S4 501 , the first car produced in May 1969 , thru to the last car YG2S4 2919 which was produced in July 1971. The 1969 Mk2 didnt have any Compliance Plate fitted until December 1969 , only the prefix and car number stamped into the radiator shroud panel . Sometime in December 1969 a Compliance Plate was fitted , right thru to July 1971. The prefix and car number on this Plate should match the one on the radiator shroud panel
