The 'cone' is basically the spring in a dry suspended mini. It is a round rubber domed block with metal sleeve inserts. This rubber provides suspension in exactly the same way as a spring in other cars. Removing the cones is not an extremely difficult job and can be just as easily done with the subframes in the car. Front - Use special tool to take up the suspension travel. Then remove the upper suspension arm, release special tool and remove cone. Rear - remove either top or bottom shocker mount and allow trailing arm to swing down. Then remove cone Both may need a bit of persuation after the suspension load is removed as the cones can rust into place. I have ommited a few steps (removing fuel tank etc.) but the steps are all detailed in the manual. Good Luck |

Chances are the nylon cup (ball joint) in the upper control arm has suffered from the "hit" so I would check that too once you have it apart ![]() |
