suspension sagging

I recently hit a potthole causing the passanger side guard to rub. I checked the suspension trumpet and its not broken, just wondering if anyone else has any ideas on what maybe wrong?

99% thats your suspension cone is RS, basically needs replacing.

what is the suspension cone? im not up with heaps of lingo the suspension is dry type. is it easy to replace? does it involve dropping out the sub frame and removing springs as i dont think ive got the tools for that? :?

The 'cone' is basically the spring in a dry suspended mini. It is a round rubber domed block with metal sleeve inserts. This rubber provides suspension in exactly the same way as a spring in other cars.

Removing the cones is not an extremely difficult job and can be just as easily done with the subframes in the car.

Front - Use special tool to take up the suspension travel. Then remove the upper suspension arm, release special tool and remove cone.

Rear - remove either top or bottom shocker mount and allow trailing arm to swing down. Then remove cone

Both may need a bit of persuation after the suspension load is removed as the cones can rust into place.

I have ommited a few steps (removing fuel tank etc.) but the steps are all detailed in the manual.

Chances are the nylon cup (ball joint) in the upper control arm has suffered from the "hit" so I would check that too once you have it apart :idea:
