The results are there, but very little so far in the way of (tall) stories and reports. I'm sure they will come though. :)

Mike, I was just amazed at the number of Minis that rocked up with obvious ignition or fuelling problems.
I dunno- :? I just find it strange that people pay $50 to dyno run a motor that, with a bit of prior tuning, would have given 10HP more in some cases. I'm talking plugs, points, check plug lead resistance, etc.

yea yea...you're talkin about me there.....

Just remember....this car has only been registered for 3 days......I paid $50 to see what I need to look at.....which I am doing NOW.

Points gap was 3 times what it should have been.

Kev
I have seen that many times. Arrive for a race meeting with the car as they put it on trailer after the last race meeting. Tyres flat, brakes unbled, petrol in the fuel lines gone off - apart from the obvious things you mentioned.

They then spent half of practice getting the car going properly again. I hate being methodical but things like that really do require a good check list that you tick and sign off on.

On one private practice day at Oran Park I avoided two wheels from two different cars that had "fallen". Just unbelievable

I wouldn't put my mini on a dyno at the moment as I know it needs a proper dyno tune to sort it properly in the carby area. Runs fine mostly but runs lean at the top. No change from $400 for a dyno tune and the minister for finance just laughs at me when I mention it.

I guess some want to win trophies, others just want to see how its going as is etc. I wanted to get mine on a dyno to find out the power 'as raced' & get a video for youtube. I got the video last year at MDU and wanted to do the power thing this time but missed out. Before MDU the car was in bits since Good Friday 05 and I only started it the night before!

I see the dyno day as a show/shine with a purpose - the annoying flat caps don't judge if a car has the right date stamp on the starter motor etc, so it's heaps more fun.

Why do they need to when it appears you can run then tune then run again :S

Some of us don't know our arse from our elbow so are interested in what we've got at the moment and then when we either learn about doing something about it or pay someone to fix and then run again some other time it's nice to see a change.

Besides at only $50 it's hardly going to break the bank, and it's a bit of fun for those of us who don't spend their lives 'up to their arms' in minis see what happens when you do :)
