whats your preferance, and why. we need to pick a box from our collection to use on dani's car.. the 1275 s motor we got is sitting on a 22g1832, and a s we have 4 of these boxes it would be great if this was a reasonable working setup (guessing anything better is going to cost bigtime??). also have a 22g382 remote and of course the 850 pudding stick type from the motor and box i cant sell. remembering that this will be a young ladies first car. there isnt a need for it to be able to go sideways at 200Ks..
any info on usability of the above boxes or selectors/ mods to make useable would be great

4 synchro remote change from the Mk II 'S & Mini K are the sought after box. After that your standard 4 synchro rod change (like whats already under the 1275) are reasonably abundant and parts are availible. The pudding stirrer comes in last.

Which reminds me... I found it interesting that your Morrie 1100s 1275 was on a rod change... I was under the impression all the Morris 1100's had 3 synchro remote change gearboxes. Can anybody shed any light on whether the 1100s came with rod change boxes at any point or whether its been swapped over?

are they readily available, and what sort of price would you expect to pay?

the 1275 wasnt bolted to that box.. in fact that box was being used as an ashtray LOL
but having 4 of them (theres another 2 behind the deluxe under the moke bonnet dewey)
i was hopeing to make good use of them. i have a rod selector set up and 2x remote ones that came out of morrie 1100's are these the same?

On the topic of gear boxes.

I'd like to retain the Magic Wand gear lever for the authentic MK1 look. Can a later model or 1100 gears be put into the MK1 case? And then matched up to the 1100 block?

My 1100 Van has the magic wand, so maybe look for one from that. There may be a problem with 1100 crank shaft clearances with the 850 gear box.

Wombat, I'd just build a 4 synchro Mini K or S remote box, fit the 850's magic wand diff housing. Just check roundness and alignment of the bearing bores.
The reverse was a common conversion way back then.

BTW 1098s were fitted to rod changes, in Clubbies circa `73-74.
