I'd like to see the engine bay and to know what the data on the body id plate says. Obviously the wrong motor, maybe the wrong colour, without the plate info, who knows? I've seen more correct Coopers (correct engine etc) around for not much more than that price. Steve |

If you can get a newly restored car with a new paint, new interior and a rebuilt 1275cc engine with a receipt file to verify the work (and that it was carried out to a high standard) for $8k its a winner. If it also has a Cooper body, albeit with a non original engine (but arguably a rebuilt 1275 is always more valuable than a 998) then even better. Some people on these forums always "saw plenty of better cars for less money" but the reality out there is different and prices are rising. The main thing here is to make sure that the work he says was indeed done and that it was done well. In any case buying a restoration that someone has started but ran out of steam right before the end or right after its finished is always the best option. They've already bled the time and money required to fix the car up and you come in and pick up a bargain. |

Hi guys, Is this meant to be an English or Oz assembled car? If it's English, there is a whole lot wrong with it. Regards Al |
