Post subject: | Good Mechanic Location |
Perhaps a thread should be started for locations of good reputable mini mechanics, and advise on who not to go to. I know in country victoria you should go to Mead Motors Kyneton. Fantastic work ![]() I am asking on behalf of a friend - he wants a good mechanic in Sydney that can fix his 69 Roundie. It hasn't started for 8 years, so will need the usual. He lives in Coogee (but not resticted to a mechanic on the East side). Can anyone advise on a good mechanic in Sydney? Thanks |

8years..... So many mechanics will recommend more than just the usual. I had a motor that hadn't been run for 7 years and i was told by reputable mini mechanics to rebuild the motor (even thought it had only done 1500km from rebuild) 8ys is a long time for a stationary car. |

In Victoria I have never had any problems with Minis Plus in Bayswater and Link Automotive in Mitcham. Also for parts A Grade Classic Parts. Brenton is always up for a good deal. |

However, Mini engines are tough!! There are plenty of cars running around and being enjoyed after extended periods of time off the road. So long as you are careful and do some basic prep before starting the thing like ensuring that the old fuel is removed and replaced with fresh, there is some oil in the bores and you have oil pressure from the new gutful of oil you just gave it....and then apply the ignition side of it to to see if it will run ![]() You can be unlucky and find some seals and gaskets may be leaking....but you never know....most times they just go. |

Here's a list of details. http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10543 Just to add, ozmonaco is in Balmain, Sydney. His name is John and is a very nice person/mechanic. He knows a lot about Minis. His workshop phone is: 9555 5646. I knwo his mobile too, but dunno if it's ok to give, so u better ask him. He doesn't mind to take time away from work and likes very much to talk with you about your Mini problems. So if I got a Mini again, I will sure go to him. This is closer for your friend. Another one is Mini King, but haven't seen/dealt with him but sounds very nice person just like ozmonaco. Likes to talk with you. This is a bit futher. |

If John is running an automotive business in Balmain, I'm sure he wouldn't mind being listed here: http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10543 In fact I'm sure he won't mind because Balmain boys don't cry ![]() Can some one get the proper name of the business from the White Pages and get it posted ![]() |

I think, before this gets too far, we should implement a kind of template to make it easier to read. Maybe something like this??? Name: Address: Contact details: What you had done: What you liked about them: Star rating (out of ten) Eliminates negative comments;) |

I agree with 9y, why make things more complicated than they need be? Most of the mini specialists in sydney are good. If you want to know who not to trust and as far as i am concerned there is only one. then PM me or almost anyone esle that lives in sydney. The rest do good work and are pretty honest. John Centrone And Mini classic are both highly recommended by me. |
