Well last night Queenie's fuel pump decided it didnt want to pump anymore about a kilometre from home. Being a kilometre from home it wasnt worth calling the RAA plus I didnt have my mobile on me. So had no option other to push her home. I am glad I dont own a big heavy V8 muscle car because even the mini gets pretty heavy after about 500metres. I know Matt (sswanab) pushed a mini for two kilometres across the Hay Plains before giving up due to a stuffed water pump. What marathon pushes have you performed in your years of mini / classic car ownership? Cheers Matt |

points failed in the mini at the summernats. had to push it up the hill from natex to my uncles place at kaleen. lucky there were two of us. not sure how far that actually is, but it seems a long way now.... cheers michael |

Not so much a distance thing, but as an apprentice I couldn't afford much so when the starter motor let go I relied on push starts for about 6-8 months. This combined with wipers that didn't work made for interesting conversation after 'pickin up'...My favourite answer being - I left the crank handle at home this morning! Daniel |

weni first got my mini i cldnt get it into reverse so for a few months id just ope the door and use my foot my old navara ute ran outta of fuel once and i had to push it around 500 metres that wasnt fun as the car weighs nearly 2 tonne ive pushed the mini for probly 2 or 3 ks from oakhurst to rooty hill wen i kept blowong fuses cheers bob |

You could have used a start for a while, probably not good for the start but if you have a plug spanner, you could have removed the plugs (so it doesn't compress) and gone from their. My solinoid to starter cable decided, on friday that the nut holding it would come lose and the cable would touch the oil cooler and jam in there so it couldn't be moved. I had to push start at the fuel station, got help from some guy who kept telling me about his mate who has the SC12 kit in a Morris Minor, not a Mini he reckons. |

I used to like to "play" in the forests around Canberra in my younger days... and once had the electric fuel pump fail... no co-ercion would get it to go again.... and these were the days before mobile phones..... Luckily I had a 1ltr empty oil container - and using the breather hose off the fuel tank was able to siphon out fuel into the oil container. I then manually poured fuel into the float chambers (twin SUs) drive for a km or so - stop - top it up again....repeat many times... eventually made it back to civilization - and a phone box ! Have also had the experience of dropping off a femle friend after a night out.... then having to go back and have her push start the mini ..  (No offer to stay the night  )
Otherwise had a faulty car alarm "immobilse" my CRX on the Hume Hwy at 2am... pushed it 2km to the Maraluan servo - as no way was I going to leave at the side of the highway... looks pretty flat until you are pushing a car !! |

my late uncle who lived at Largs bay on the esplanade restored a Rover 90. We tried to push it out of his yard (mostly sand) & six of us couldn't budge it. That's when I decided the only british car to own was a Mini

i had a old mini austin 850 flash paint and it looked real good but the engine had a small over heating problem out in the middle of no where my brother was droping me and the chick i was going out with at the time, off at her place on a farm we were about 5-7 kms away from her house and just as we were going over a real huge hill the unthinkable happen steam started pissing out the bonnent (remember im in new zealand so theres millions of hills and corners) so we pilled over and started rolling it down the hill,and we all tock turns pushing this mini to my girls house after about 1 hour we got there we toped it up with water and gave it a reast then my brother started off home it was so imbarsing as i was only going out with her for a mouth.

A mate and I were in his ute. It coughed and spluttered ran out of fuel. We pushed it for 300 Mts to the top of the hill - a servo at the bottom - just past a set of stop lights. We had to time the lights correctly, to get down the hill and across the lights - and wheel into the servo - much to the amusement of the other servo customers. I hate pushing Utes! |

i had my yellow clubby stored at a firends house for a while but she had to move 1km away around the corner so me an the brother inlaw took turns pushing this thing while one of us sat on a milk crate on the driver side steering it we had 1 main road which was thankfully light on the traffic st mary's as a few people on here isn't exactly as dead flat as it could be but we got a few weird looks on popondetta road leading upto raven rd but 6 months later me and the brother in law lifted the shell over what was left of the subframe and the motor to get that out along with the blown hydro bags it now resides in my front yard where i have had a few people stuff me around with selling it i have since purchase a 1976ls which we towed on a 900kg car carrier with a 4cylinder toyota camry - yes the ls is for sale for the right price pm me |

i found the mini in the middle of the school oval once when i was doing it up. some-one(s) had pushed it out there with the handbrake on. i had to push it back to where it was along the bumpy oval because i had no permition to start it. i learnt my lesson, i keep it in gear all the time now. i usually push my mini around the servo because it is faster then starting it when others are waiting to use the pumps and i am sticking around to wash the windscreen. |
