You are supposed to loosen the brake pipe nipple, and big nut that holds the hose to the subframe... then it can spin.

hey i have removed the brake hose from left disc brake but it was very difficult - as the hose when undoing had no sorta swivell, it just kept twisting the hose untill i though it may split or something.. anyone got an easy way to take the brake hoses offf.. i dread looking at the other today.. doing it the same way. Cheers |

....and that is why you see soooo many Minis with bent inner guards! You almost have to bend the bottom of the inner guard up so you can get to that end of the hose. Or you can do a Kev and get the angle grinder out and.....  ey Kev!

I got the angle grinder out also...... Regency (SA roadworthy) didn't notice/care when I went in the next week. |

Well I just evened the car up, there's already a cutout provided on the other side... Issigonis must have blinked and not put this one in.
Actually, you can get to it from above with sockets etc, but it's a PITA. |

i just remove the two bolts that hold the caliper on. then the calliper itself can be spun around. That way i can avoid dealing with the big nut on the subframe (which is often siezed anyway). |

yea Mick, easy for discs with calipers.....but what about drums? I have removed the entire drum hub and spun that around, to avoid having to undo the hose at the other end!
