This would have been asked a million times.... Where can you get a Rover Mini compliance plated?

Trying to get one here in Australia is like us poms retaining the ashes!!

I can get one from either Japan or UK but according to DOTARS there are no compliant garages in Australia. I live in WA and am willing to get the car whereever!!

The car is on the enthuast list....

This is giving me a head ache. Can anyone assist?

Barry

Compliancing in SA is done according to the rules (what ever they are in your state, and whereever you can get a copy of them from....) at the Transport SA 'head quarters'. Where they do full roadworthys.

There won't be any 'compliance garages' but there should be places or at least a place that does inspections for importer vehicles etc.

Save yourself the headache and either buy one that has already been complied and registered in Australia or order one via an import specialist. Unless you don't mind the paperwork and bureaucracy. 8)

Check out your first post in Wanted. :)

Sorry, although Rover Minis are on the enthusiasts list, nobody has put up the cash needed to go through RAWS certification (ADR testing) for them. Therefore you cannot get a post 1988 mini imported and registered in Australia unless it was here before the rules changed. (doesn't matter what state you're in)

If you want the late Rover style, your only option is to get a 1988 or earlier Rover to import and fill it with bits from a late model that has been wrecked, cut etc. Or buy a car that is registered already and do the same.

Fork over a shed load of cash and Steve at Brickworx may go through the approval process. But if you don't, then minis at @12-15k each don't make economic sense for the importer.

Oh, forgot, you could go & live OS for a year, own & register the car for that time then import it...

M

Talk to Steve at Brickworx, he can probably arrange transportation of the car once complied to you in WA aswell.

He's also got a link on his site where you can view the cars in Japan that are up for auction.
