Haha, I know it's not really a mini anymore, but it still has that "fall behind on the straights, overtake in the corners" thing that minis have. I loved it!!

Ahhh but it really is still a mini Van (no matter what powers it),,, & just in case any of you havn`t realised --->a mini van handles way way way way better than a mini sedan simple as that!!!! Absolure fact!!!!!!! & you have lots of room as well :-)

& yeah, Achim & i would obviously get on very well, just as (if not more) loony-tunes :-) insane minis,,, rocket ship motorbike powered buggy things etc etc etc yeah that`s what life is all about hey???

I personally didn't know vans handle better!?! I'm interested to know why..
Is this because they have a longer wheelbase?
I'm assuming they weigh a little more, does this let them hold the road a bit better?

And yeah speedy, i saw it there too :D

No but I noticed Led Zeppelin "Communication Breakdown" playing (though god knows how its related to cars).

BTW that chick seems like Sabine Schmidt who was on Top Gear teaching Clarkson how to drive a diesel Jaguar around the Nordschlife.

I found the van safer as the rear end would start to skip on corners as the sedan was all or nothing.

Having the rear skip or jump etc I guess comes down to the longer track. But having this seemed to work as a warning before going too far / hard.

I can recall a mini shop in Canberra about 8 years ago, telling me how a van won a local comp around a very tight course (flat ground with markers). I'd be interested to hear others thoughts that have driven both often.

the workshop manual says vans are lighter.... I wish the back-ends were stronger and more rigid. Looks like Achim has a fat cage in there...

Vans are a far more neutral car , very much more predictable than a sedan & yes it`s because they`re slightly longer wheel base (4inches)

& also yes they can do with some rear strengthening to help stop the twist factor, but all in all a much much better handling car to start with,,, it takes a fair bit of work to get a sedan to handle anywhere near as good as a std van.

I raced vans for years & years & years & i know that if i had a road van now then my turbo injected Bimmer Twinky demo car would be in a van no doubt

& yes it`s Sabine in the vids & she is an absolute legend driver & knows her way around a race track as good as anyone
