Post subject:  OZ wind up doors into UK body
OK this has been discussed some in another thread but I'm still trying to get a more definitive answer.

I have a 1965 NZ MKI, could be either NZ assembled knock down kit or UK built up import....same body though so shouldn't matter (?). Come standard with external hinges and slide windows.

I'm trying to figure out if aussie external hinge, wind up window 'drop handle' doors are an option (mini K?)

Some say striker plate needs modifying some say it doesn't.

Some say B pillar is different some say no...

Some say sill profile different (underneath or B piller? ) some say no.....

This shouldn't be a 'maybe' question it should be black and white so it's driving me nuts...

If you go search the MM site (as we do) many, many people have bolted Oz windup doors onto UK Mk1s with hardly a problem.
Matt Read TheMiniMan is da man, he has sold quite a few to there.

I've not done it although I've owned both 850s and later windup door cars- as far as I'm aware the problems are confined to using the right door rubber (Oz Mini Deluxe or later), and swapping the nylon alignment thingy from the door to the body. :wink:

i have done it the other way around on my mini minor by putting slidey doors on instead of windy doors. siple job, so the the reverse is also possible....

Years ago, I put Aussie doors onto an NZ assembled Min with no problems at all.

Your car is amost certainly an NZ assembled one, there were very few overseas assembled regular Minis here. There are ways of confirming the fact, if you are interested.
