For those of us not in the know - how did the carby swap end up and what is the result.

You have now driven it in traffic.

I rocked up at Aarons with collar and tie on, and Aaron said "I'll do it for ya mate" (what a champ!). While watching on, he pulled the fuel line off and flicked it sideways, giving me a nice face full of fuel! :lol: Accidently of course.

I think it took a whole 30 minutes to swap the Weber, leads and check the points.

The drive home was still a little 'iffy', but noticeably better. It was still missing a beat at irregular intervals.

The thought was either a dizzy or coil fault.

I had a spare dizzy, and changed it over on Thursday night.

Friday morning the damn thing wouldn't start :evil:

I didn't want to be late for work, so I took the wifes car.

Saturday morning I changed dizzies, points, leads and condensor twice, and I STILL couldn't start the bastard. :x The battery is now flat..... :(

That was the final straw.......my patience had been wearing thin for a while now...... I officially chucked in the towell and by the same afternoon I came home with this :lol: :

No more Minis for daily driving. Strictly a weekend warrior now. :mrgreen:

I am going to take the daily GT back to original (lose the white roof and add stripes and GT rims), and of course continue with my therapy, which is restoring Reg (the TME GT) to original (concourse?) condition.

Simon.....I paid the equivalent to a nice original unrestored Cooper S. You do the math :wink: You will probably nail it.

Oh well Anton - you have probably made the right decision.
Years ago - perhaps 1973 - I sold a much loved Cooper S because it had been developed to the point where it was just a cranky car on the road.

If it stalled at the lights, there was no guarrentee it was going to start hot with six kilometres of Parramatta Road traffic behind it. It was both my road car and my racing car and the two just dont mix.

I bought a HT - HK Monaro which was a dream to go to work in by comparison. I sold that to go to Britain and sigh every time i see one being sold for $100,000. I got $1800 off some kid who stuck it into a telegraph pole two weeks later. I was told it spent its retired years on a stack of cars at Parramatta Spares.
