Post subject: | New front bumpers - morris |
Hi, I am looking at getting a new front bumper for my 68 morris. I was told several different things by different seller's and thought I'd ask here for clarification from those who have actually bought and used new bumpers. ![]() ![]() Which ones are closest to original pattern? Which ones are strongest? Who did you buy them from? |

The front bumper on my car ATM is actually from the UK. It's stainless steel. It was a real bastard to fit cause the threads on the bumper didn't quite line up with the holes in the car. A bit of gentle persuasion later and it fitted fine - needed two people though. Took it off the other day to do something and it went back on like the old bumpers that were on it - just adjusted its shape after a year or so. I actually bought it off a local guy in the mini club who personally got it imported from some place in the UK. Sorry don't know the name of the place. Overall I think it fitted pretty well. |

I bought mine from Mini Kingdom a while back, Brand New Rover Stainless. They fit well, keeping in mind my front apron panel is also Rover. |

I put 2 Rover S/S ones on mine, they fits OK in the 1970 model holes. As well as the originals did anyway. ![]() |

Used the rovers in the past, they look fantastic. I was at the time concerned with how they looked so i lined them up against the originals. They differed a little in the far ends only, they were a slightly different profile to the originals. They looked great once fitted. |

There's meant to be two different shaped ends, apparently the later ones are more spoon shaped. I've used genuine Rover S/S ones but they weren't very shiny. I had to spend a while with the metal polish to get them bright enough. After that they kept their shine really well. Tim |

Thanks Guys! Will start to look around now. I have been told that the 'rover' stainless items are very thin and easily damaged. Any one experienced this? Cheers, Matt |

Mine seemed thick enough. Certainly thicker than the originals that had lost their chrome and rusted on the back. Tim |

The original bumpers are "crimped" at the ends, whereas the later UK ones are a straight cut. |
