Ok...

Looking at getting a trailer for the moke - need to carry around parts, engines, tools etc...

So nothing too big..

What options are out there?

I remember watto had a trailer on the back of his moke, but i can't find it?

Maybe just get one of those little Aunger trailers from Repco or K-Mart?

For the non-mokers amongst us, galv mokes:
- have 4 wheels
- have more rust
- have slightly more power

That's what watto has - a little Aunger one.

There was a couple of those on eBay recently.

But I'm building my own little enclosed box:

Above as purchased on eBay for $80. It's now a towable frame with some mods and fitted with a set of 12" jelly-bean mags. Just got to make up the tailgate frames and clad it with some aluminium or something.

Cheers,

Have a look at www.easytrailer.com.au.
If you get a big enough trailer I have seen them advertised with a Mini on it.
My idea was to get the caged model and have alloy cherplate rivetted to the inside so it is a box trailer aswell as a flatbed with ramps. And the best part is it flods up and stands at the back of your garage or down the side of your house.

look through the web site and you will see a picture of one of their trailers with a GT on it.
I know it all costs money but they are very versatile and can be several trailers in one if you get all the different parts.

matt850,

I think everyone in this thread is talking about a small trailer for towing behind a Mini or Moke, not towing a Mini on it. :) [/b]

Look at the weight of these things. Even the large ones! If you dont want to go that big then they also have tiny ones which can still be multi functionable. As I said previously, if you go for one of the larger types then you can fit a mini on it. If you go for a 4ft square then atleast it still folds flat and can be wheeled in to the back of your garage.
I used to tow a 7' x 4' box trailer with a steel chequer plate floor without any trouble. These things are a fraction of that weight.

Can they legally make vechicle trailers out of alloy or not? If not are there any other lighter metals that they can use besides steel?

I am talking from a trailer manufactures perspective.

its a cost thing. steel is much cheaper to buy, the equipment to weld it together is cheaper, etc
