Post subject:  Fuel Prices
Be prepared to see $1.40 at company owned/operated big brand servos at the end of this week.

Wholesale fuel prices are on the way up again tommorow, they went up today also and on Saturday.

Fun times ahead!

Saw a guy from Caltex on Sunrise one morning last week who said that the current price rises are caused by the US coming into its "Driving Season" and to expect it to go up to around $1.50. He said that this is because they (Caltex Australia) buy 20% of their refined fuel from overseas and despite the cost of crude dropping on the world market and the stronger Aussie dollar the increase in demand from the US is forcing the refined fuel price up.

Let's see - at the time petrol was $1.30ish, 20% of which has gone up 20cents - I make that a 77% increase in the price of imported refined fuel - boy those yanks must do a lot of "seasonal driving" :lol: :lol: :evil: :evil: :evil:

Theoretically, the stronger Aussie dollar should make fuel cheaper. However, all this is irrelevant cos the oil co's have simply got us by the balls. :cry:
Conspiracy theory - there is an abundant cheap alternative to petroleum out here somewhere, but Exxon etc. will screw us until every last drop of crude has gone. They have a deal with government who are punch drunk on excise revenue. :wink:

I like the "Be prepared to see $1.40 " bit , we're already $1.38 and have been for a fair while . Go half an hour north to Woolgoolga and it drops 10-12c , same for an hour or so south but all servo's in Coffs are the high price . Oh , and of course they say they aren't colluding on their prices ...

Gotta love the northern beaches! However there is one servo here that randomly jumps 10-12c and ends up higher than its partner in Coffs, only for a day or so, then back down - whilst all other servos don't move.

I used to love Arrawarra, it was 2-3c cheaper than woolgoolga! not anymore :(

Probably shopping day for dockets!

I'm not going to get into a debate about it.

Just letting you guys know that a decent size jump is on its way if you are paying 132.9 at the moment (Which some people are).

In future I will keep all my pricing data to myself :)

Only reason I keep an eye on the prices throughout everyday is that my fuel orders are around the 120,000L mark a day.

Not having a shot at you Maxi23 , just a comment on the local dealings here and frustration at seeing the "fuel watch" each morning on sunrise when they complain about Sydney prices which are always less than most other places .

It is all a bit BS. You watch the crude prices, and the Aussie dollar agains the greenback and you think "Yes! Fuel prices are about to drop!! woohoo!!"....think again....the refiners decide to DOUBLE their profit margin, yes, double it...not just a slight increase, but double it. Bye bye lower fuel prices.

Country areas cop it a bit worse sometimes, depending on the operator. Theoretically a servo shouldnt put their price up until they receive a load of fuel which they purchased for the higher price, this isnt always the case. On top of that you have the higher cartage fee. Im not sure wha refinery coffs harbour servos would get their fuel ? Plus, running a truck, OMFG, I had no idea on the costs of maintaing a truck until now. $900 for a tyre!! $8000 for a set on a trailer!! No thankyou.

I know for a fact though that out of the terminals at Banksmeadow, Silverwater and Newcastle that BMT is the cheapest. You will pay a pipleine fee at both SWT and NCT. Thats the distributor paying that pipeline fee, which they have to pass on.....but it isnt much...only adds up when you are talking tanker loads.

Company sites will artifically inflate their price to compensate for the docket discount things.

Some sites are dirt cheap because their fuel is crap.
Some sites are dirt cheap because they feel like running their business at a loss. their choice.
Some sites will be high all the time, that way they can lose customers but still make a nice fat profit from those silly enough to go there.
Some sites maintain an even price pattern and DO NOT follow the weekly 'price cycle' (Also completely artificial), they follow the wholesale price isntead...MUCH MORE SENSIBLE!!!

prices are also heavily affected by traders and speculation.

I bought a tankfull today in Gulgong for 139.9 for unleaded - shearing all day tomorrow and taking the tonner so that will be another tankfull only the ute is premium. Sigh !!!!!!

They havn't got us by the balls - they grapple at the skin were the balls used to be.

i have to agree with anyone's sentiments that fuel prices are a rip off and the oil companies are grappling at the skin where our balls used to be ,

it's like everything else in this country

housing is no longer affordable by the average citizen , only the people who either bought a few years ago when house was affordable by people earning under 40k and the ones currently earning over 60k now can get the loans

i won't start on crippling tax,councils,local members,my inconsiderate neighbors with their new quad bikes, or the never ending supply of junk mail in my letter box it will only start a big massive debate

so what can we do about it ?
bend over and cop it!!! and while your down there of course.............:(

Um I wasnt serious - I was affectively saying - stop whinging.
(sounding too much like Makka for my liking)

I wonder how many people here have shares in oil companies and have made huge amounts of capiltal gain in the last five years :roll: It aint all bad you know.

Oil prices are high because demand is high - so use less
