White with a Black trace is usually an ignition wire between the coil and distributor.
Just a guess but could be a sensing wire for the later 3 instrument Clubman voltage sensing tacho????

Had the dash off of Ribena lately and I've found a wire that seems to be 'spare'. It's white with a black trace - the end has an insulated connector. I've tried to find what it's for from a few wiring diagrams but no luck. Maybe a previous owner did something and removed the accessory before selling the car. Your thoughts?????? Hooroo |

Possibly a hidden kill switch ??? Check the wires to the coil and see what colour they are . |

White/black I think goes to the coil, so is probably a tach sense wire. It's perfect for a kill switch as it will ground the -ve side of the coil. |
