Does anyone know of any motor trimmers that will come to your house to supply and install head linings/ roof linings in the South West Sydney area????? |

I don't know, but several people have recommended the guy who works from his garage on Seven Hills Rd (prospect hwy) just past the railway line on the left as you re heading towards the M2. As you come off the bridge look for a sign on the left. Talk to him as he may more able to do something like that (given you're relatively close) than someone who has a more substantial investment in premises. I've not spoken to him, he was on my list when I was restoring one of my cars but I ended up with a guy in Riverstone (Hytone), who definitely wouldn't do what you want offsite. KB |

yea im haveing trouble with my roof lining as well i cant seem o get all the ripples out above the doors and also with the back pillars how do you put them on? any advice will be appreciated cheers carter |

like most other professionals, trimmers dont like fixing somebody else's mess. if you bought a headlining off ebay, and i've heard this from a few other people, the fit isnt great. the trimmers will probly tell you that you get what you pay for. there are ways of getting it to work, hard to descibe online.... |

Ahh Harry Hindsight.  Evil man!
I bought one on ebay thinking it was cheap, and not really thinking at all I guess. What an idiot I can be at times. So how do I find out how to fit an ebay one to a clubman? is there a good web page or a couple of photo's with descriptions or anything like that? |

man i just tried to write it all out, but it just wasnt making sense. just find where the ripples are, give the side that faces the roof a pinch and see if it has enough give to pull the ripples out, take a pencil or something else and mark out howmuch needs to be taken out of the headlining and then sew those bits... aaarrrgghhhhh im going to make my own headlining, in the next couple of months. |

If you make your own head lining, you might want to trace it for others, before you put it in your car but the tolerances on these old cars mean that no shell is the same, so people could only use yours as a guide. I suspect that is what I will be doing to my ebay one.

thats the thing sprite, there isnt a need to cut it. in the same way it was stiched, if there is more sag in a certain spot, then re stitch it along its existing stitch line. eventually it will pull up any sag. also its not about cars having a differnt shape, bmc headlining was always great. the people who make these headlinings make the mistakes, its just human error. maybe they got their pattern from a old streched headlining. the trick is making it a bit smaller then the original one you pull out. |

I removed a black velour headlining from a wreck, and refitted it myself into my first Mini (JAM). The fit was excellent. I put that down to 2 things. 1. My method of fitting, which I will try to locate and post, and... 2. More importantly, the velour fabric is stretchy, so you can really pull it tight to remove any sag or wrinkles. If you want a headlining, and don't care about originality, get one made in velour!
