just wondering what a genuine cooper project is worth. it has a running engine and appears to be fairly straight needs restoration.

thanks nathan

it depends on soooooooooooooooooo many factors...

how much smoke does the engine blow? what is the cause of it?
how's the clutch and gearbox?
what are the brakes like? will they need renewing/replacing?
will you need any new electrics?
even if the body is straight, does it have any rust? how much?

thats just scraping the surface, and alot of things sometimes only show up hen you take the car back to bare metal.

but, o the other hand, if its a genuine cooper...big smiles :D

Further to what Dylan has said , is it a 997 or 998 cooper , does it have it's original engine , how original is it otherwise ? As a lot of coopers have morphed into cooper s's an original cooper is finally coming into it's own as a very desirable mini .

Ball park figure for a decent cooper $7,000- $12,000

Depnding on a lot of factors.

I'd be asking for the engine number as it has bolts instead of studs and nuts on the head and also an alternator so may well be a later motor , also find out about gear linkage type in case the floor's been changed to fit a rod change for the later engine if it is fitted .

Could be a nice car, and it's the right price at the moment.

Shame about the engine (much later 1100 type), but as the original cooper blocks aren't so highly sort after it's easily fixed. 12g295 head might cause dome pain in the wallet however, but 12g202(aka 1100) heads are original 997 cooper fit. I don't believe there is much of a difference between the cooper 998 blocks and the deluxe/clubman 998's apart from the hole for the fuel pump at the back, maybe it might have the 295 head on it if you are lucky.

Easily reverted to generator if the wiring loom is still original and the regulators are still easy to find.

You could pay 1500 for a complete clubby really if you wanted to...nothing much to complain about if it is what it says it is.
