Post subject:  Suspension sounds and how to find them

Since I've installed adj. suspension geometry parts (bottom arms and tie bars up front and adjustable brackets at the rear) the car sounds and feels funny going over irregularities in the road (mostly those little reflctive squares that mark car lanes). The sound is a dull thud as if falling from a jump or riding on the bump stops (just me in the car and the hydro is nice and high) and it seems to come from the rear but could be just a distortion from the front. It feels less dampened too as if its flattening the bump, not going over it.

Any ideas? I'm thinking either the rear brackets interfere with the movement of the trailing arm or the new poly bushing on the adj. tie rods is too stiff (though I had poly on the inside and outside of the tierod mount before and now its poly on the outside and soft rubber on the inside).

Don;t know if any of this is going to help...but...did you just put them or did you get it all adjusted all the geometry is the same.

Maybe get it on one of those pedders machines that check for suspention wear and see if you can watch what is happening and where.

Sound does transfer around as it does with wheel bearings...Sound like it in the back but could be in front

Not much help i know

Nah the geometry front and rear was adjusted at a suspension place, but would small geometry changes affect suspension stiffness all that much anyway?
