Post subject: | Fuel Filter |
Hey guys, Went and bought a fuel filter yesterday at supercheap and picked one at random that I thought looked about the right size because the booklet there didn't list any classic mini. Just wondering - is a 4.16mm internal diametre inlet and a 3.84mm internal diameter outlet big enough to supply fuel without causing me fuel starvation problems? I do realise that the fuel hose on my car is 3/16 (4.7625mm - for a Deluxe). If I need to take it back I still have the reciept and haven't taken the filter out of the plastic yet so that's ok! Cheers, Nick |

If you can get it to fit without leaks then use it. The mini fuel pumps (both mechanicaland electrical) are designed to give 2.5 psi presssure whille the engine running and the float bowl holds enough fuel to cover any momentarily gliches in fuel supply I personally think the best fuel filters are the subaru type which is "T" shaped - that is; both entrance and exit are at the top and there is a bowl shaped affair at the bottom which catches any crap in the fuel without impeding fuel flow. It must be mounted correctly though - not just hanging in mid air between two bits of rubber hose. Just remember just about all fuel filters have directional fuel flow - look for the arrows and mount it that direction. |
