so im finally decidng to do smthing to my mini its been sitting there waiting tobe workd on and i got some spare time this wknd so im goin to start with the engine bay i was thinking of spraying the firewall in black heat resistant engine enamel as then it is the hardest part to get to to clean grease the black will hide this or i was goin to try find that textured chippproof paint they use to detail the under carriage of show cars the rest of the engine bay im goin to spray nugget gold the original colour not sure on engine clour as of yet anyadvice on this photos of engine bays pre engine installation wld be good ill try get a current foto up tomoro cheers bob |

yea i will do ill take plenty of photos the aim is to get the engine bay done by sunday arvo but will see how i go not ganna do the engine tillits finished cheers bob |

I would paint it a light colour...or the same colour as the car if it is a light colour....you need all the light you can get when working down in the depths and EZY2C indications when trying to see where the oils coming from ![]() |

sweet looks good did u use a heat proof enamel on the firwall i only aske because my fire wall atthe moment is really burnt from the heat of the extractors no sure if thatd just my extractors being so old or is it a common thing cheers bob |

My engine bay iis painted with the same enamel as the rest of the car and to overcome the heat problem, I wrapped the exhaust with heat insulation tape which also acts as a noise insulator. ![]() |

Yeah, I painted mine the same as the car... but now I am painting the car a slightly different colour... bay will stay the same (shouldnt be able to notice) ![]() |

I just used automotive enamel - to get the shine out of the can. The paint place packed it in a pressure pack can - $25 the one can did three coats and had a little left over to paint the inside of the new battery box. |

thats the one thats a sweet lookin engine bay thats hoiw i was htinking of doing mine and yeah the vinyl soundproof bit will stay there but below that behind the extractors is where it all burnt mayb that insulator tape will do the trick on the extractors i plan toget new extractors anyway cheers bob |

alright now beofre i go pulling everything out im plannig to get it all rewired and everything but am not sure wat needs to be left in for the autoelectrician so ill put it out there if theres any auto electricians on here and also is it better to get it rewired bfore or after the engine goes in cheers bob |
