Driving home from work tonight - exhausted, after a 17 hour shift, and the clutch pedal felt real soft. I can still select all gears without any crunching but it feels like only the last half inch of pedal travel will allow me to change gears. Got home ok - about 25 Km's - checked the fluid level and it's ok. Checked the movement of the plunger coming out of the slave cylinder and the clutch arm - barely moving. There's no fluid leaks (maybe there will be in the morning though) so I think the master or slave is just about dead. What do you think. Thanks. |

Check for fluid leaks, your problem is same as what I had when my slave cylinder karked it. |

Ballooning clutch hose in a BIG way , they don't normally get that bad but might be worth looking at if everything else is OK . |

Ok, no aparrent leaks so I'll check the hose. Just need an assistant to press the pedal so I can have a look at what's happeneng. |

you'll probly have to get your master cylinder sleeved, i had to get mine done, the feeling was like the friction point was getting lower and lower. once it had its stainless steel sleeve done it was fixed for life |

I' bled the system last night with jan pushing the pedal - air bubbles, more, more, more. I'll do it again in the daylight and see if the thing improves. Failing that, I'll pull it apart and renew all the seals. Reminds me of that bloody clevis pin - a hassle to get back in but she with the little fingers can do it in about a minute flat. Me with the sausage fingers can't get near it ![]() Hooroo |

If it's not leaking fluid but getting air when bleeding, I'd replace the slave cylinder or its seal first. When slave seal is gone it sucks air in there on the upstroke. |
