Hi, what would a full set of disc brakes weigh, 7.5" and 8.4"? Does handling change much if using either one? (from drums) Read that sometimes a set of adjustable arms were needed or is this only if going to a non mini disc setup? Thanks. |

Read that sometimes a set of adjustable arms were needed or is this only if going to a non mini disc setup? Thanks. 7.5" S or 8.4" late Mini brakes are a tad heavier than drums but you won't notice it. You only really need adjustable lower arms and tiebars if using Metro swivel hubs, which have different balljoint geometry. If using a Honda or Camira (for example) brake conversion on drum swivel hubs, the geometry is unchanged except track is wider (about same as the S setup). Disc brakes are well worth it over drums, IMO. Whatever the cost. ![]() |

Thanks, looking at a set of used ones from the UK and trying to work out postage, are the 7" early cooper ones any good or are they too small? Read somewhere on here that is why not to use some from the smaller Jap cars as they are only meant for low HP cars and lower speeds. |

I would NOT bother bring in early Cooper 7" ones. I used them years ago as I got for nix. They are only 1/4" thick rotors when new. Can be made to work with hard pads and a servo but the rotors are too expensive now (around $150 ea??) ![]() Also beware buying s/h S ones, unless are cheap you could spend almost new price getting them right. Ask Lillee.... ![]() |
