Just had a look in Marcia (Van) and She has 4 Threaded holes for the Rack only...Two other large holes one slightly smaler in the middle on the raised section and the larger one is where the Clutch would be...Unsure what they are for.

Can't help you with the ones under the seat sorry as My seats are welded in :twisted:

If you are talking about the 4 holes in top of the X-member under the seat, that's where late Clubbies mounted the seats.

the X-member is pissweak.
I'm going to weld steel tubes thru mine, F/R, and put long 5/16" or 8mm bolts thru them with Nyloc nuts.

I'm not a van man.. last one I had ($20 Clubbie one) we cut in 2 with the angle grinder! Bad move.. shoulda kept it! Floor wasn't that bad, in hindsight.. :cry:

Not sure if this helps. 1972 van under drivers seat. Still has the towel rail for the older style seats, no mouning holes in the top of the cross member [out of frame]. The threaded holes in the channels [just in front of the battery] are for attaching the stone gaurd that runs the length of the car on the under side [protecting the brake lines]. There is one of these on both sides of the car.

I started to look at the van today and am baffled by all the holes in the front floor. On the top surface of the raised section there are 4 pairs of holes with 5/16 threaded holes. Also on the top there are two larger holes...what are they all for? In the floorpan behind the raised section there are more threaded holes and these would be under both seats. From what I can tell the sedan does not have any of these holes. What are they for? The sedan has the rail that holds the seat down but on the van the holes for this appear not to exist, is this correct? I think I may need to see a van, does anyone have the time to spare to allow me to do this? I would prefer to look at a standard one if possible.

There is a raised section to which the front brackets for the seats attach (to its forward face). These holes are in the top face of that raised section. I am trying to figure out how to upload a couple of images but it has defeated me so far. what is simple to some is hard for others and always simple once figured out. I will keep trying.

I have early model seats but the holes are there for those as well. The holes break out do they? I will reinforce them in that case. I will MIG a plate over them and thread that. The image of the floor is not real good as this is my first attempt at this stuff. In the second image there are two plain holes and further back there are two threaded 5/16 ones. Any ideas for these? On the late model vans how did they stop the seat tipping forward? The early clubman sedan has a bar that looks like a towel rail bolted to the floor to do this. I could avoid all these questions if I could see a van. IIRC the battery and spare wheel sits behind the seats under the rear floor? Does anyone know where I can view a spare parts catalogue showing all this stuff?

the other ones (nuts welded to floor in bottom pic) are for the screws that hold the covers underneath the car that cover the hydro channels and lecky stuff dont paint too much over them, you wont be able to get the screws in

There is one of these on both sides of the car. Wonderful. Now I can see how the battery mounts. Its bloody hard to build a car from scratch when it can't be seen assembled. All the bits peculiar to the van I have to guess at. I will try and have a look at a spares manual today. Thanks again.
