Paul Gulson, the person selling these items, has been involved with Minis for a long time including running his own Mini business. The following link to an article of his on the Mini Owners Club (Qld) may help to clarify his claim. As yet, I haven't tried the mod so I can't offer an opinion.

I doesn't do anything that the return spring between the top of the clutch arm and the slave cylinder does.
Don't waste your money on it.

Curly is right, IF there is no slack at all in the linkage. But there always is.
At least it puts that bit of thread on the release bearing shaft to good use. All the 2 normal lock nuts on there do is confuse 90% of owners.... :lol:

These springs seem to go for like $30 is it a special spring, could i just go buy a spring that fits?
it looks like he has just taken off the lock nut with the round bit (the one closer to the clutch) and put it on backwards with a spring.
because if thats the case i will go buy a spring for a few dollars and try it.

The 2 lock nuts on the end of that throw out bearing carrier are VERY VERY important, i`m not kidding!!!!!!!!!! They are crucial for certain times when certain things can happen & if they`re not fitted &/or set correctly then you have a VERY good chance of breaking the centre main bearing cap off the engine block, &

Please trust what i say here, Paul will also suggest to have the adjustment set CORRECTLY on his spring thing idea to make sure the carrier cannot "OVERTHROW" as well

That`s why they are called "OVERTHROW" nuts,,, they should be called "ANTI-overthrow" nuts

The two 15/16" nuts on the end of the throwout bearing shaft when adjusted properly will be tight up against the housing when the clutch is depressed and stops the shaft from wobbling around as the clutch is spinning. This extends the life of the bearing and also helps to reduce any secondary vibrations being transmitted to the crank from the clutch.
Can't see that spring doing the same job unless it is designed to bottom out and lock up when depressed. If it did that it would still have to be adjusted somehow.
I think I'll save myself the 30 bucks.
