Hello,
I did a quick search and came up with very little, I am needing to get a non running moke from Albury to a depot somewhere here in SA, I have rung round a few places, but does anyone have some first hand experience with and particular mob, or is one super cheap and not soo nasty?
Chris

I've just had a second car transported with Canberra Carways and a couple of mates have used them too. Great service and good pricing I'd highly recommend them. I know they service Albury/Wodonga becasue my brother who lives there seems to keep them in business

Hello again, still trying to find a transporting company that is keen to do it and not at an extortionate price. Carways is still going to get back to me (supposedly) with a price. Anyone have any ideas, or know of firms with depots in Albury that could be looking for a bit of a side job/back load?

would it be worth your while renting a trailer? (and a car to tow it if you don't ahve one) or a light truck that you can still drive if you're not heavy licenced?

depends where you are in SA i didnt look at your location :P

I was considering hooking up the car trailer and going, problem being its about a 24 hour round trip. I got the car running at Christmas time (when I first started to think about buying it) and it drove brilliantly, however since then someone hooked up the battery back the front and I wouldnt trust it to start at this point in time. I was kinda hoping for a trucky looking for a backload (not necessarily a car transporting mob). I will look for another week or two then after that its road trip time I guess, or bus trip, permit, spare wire and alternator and drive the sucker home...... I could do with a bit of adventure.

if its that far, i wouldnt try for an adventure...you may need a week off work so you can push it home

car trailer could be the best bet. ell...if a truckie is going that way anyway thats the best but yeah.

Just a quick update for thsoe considering buying a car out of albury.
Canberra Carways doesnt come to SA so they are out.
Geenfreight wasnt keen on the concept either
So far only one quote and its just a shade under 800bucks from door to depot.

None of the big companies want to touch the little bastard unless I can guarantee that it will start first pop of the button. Hmm possible should have investigated this prior to buying the car..... sounding more and more like roadtrip time.

Trewin Transport shipped Tim's non-running Traveller from Sydney to my place in Melbourne. But neither Tim or I would really "recommend" them, as they jerked both of us around.

May be worth a call if you get desperate.

Trewin were relatively cheap and they did do the job... Do you still have that photo of it with three wheels on the street and one wheel on the kerb where they dumped it Brett?

Yep, here they are:

That's where they left it when they delivered it two or three hours after they said they would and I wasn't home. They were instructed to leave it in the driveway. I had to push it out into the middle of the street and flat tow it up the driveway when I got home.

Also the car was about a week later than expected (two weeks to travel from Sydney to Melbourne!), they appeared to lose the car breifly in some depot somewhere and never returned calls when you tried to find out where the car was and when it would arrive.

But at least it arrived in one piece. :)

Yes, at least it arrived in one piece. I'd use them again, but only if I had no alternative.
