It's a 1098 of some sort, by that number prefix.

It's a 1974 Moke 1098cc engine!!

How do I know? W33VAN's car (my old van) has engine number 1016/1976 in it - a couple hundred units after yours!

It was the original engine in a mate's 74 Moke.
