On previous cars I have always sprayed water into the inlet manifold with the car under load to decarbonise the engine. This is followed by an Italian tune-up. Always worked well. Anybody else do this to their mini/moke? |

DOne the water toture several times , only a fine mist from a squirt bottle and only sparingly , never had problems with it . |

Four to one water and kero (1 part) also works good ....but you really should be taking your head off if you are that concerned about carbon build up. There are places where carbon helps to form a seal etc. |

not worried about it being there already. More of a preventative thing. - Cush - spray atomised water/alcohol/kero mix into the carb or inlet of a loaded engine will clean all the loose carbon off pistons/valves etc. Following by a quick red line run will blow all the now free crap out the pipe. |

Disadvantages too much water and car goes into hydraulic lock* but you need a lot you remove too much carbon and it runs worse the thermal shock cracks your piston Blocks catalytic converters Advanages Its fun It cleans the crud out of an engine Its fun Make sure you take the air filter off when you spritz the engine It doesnt replace good maintenance of the engine and should only be done to healthyish engine |
