a diesel generator.... what do you reckon?
you can primer a panel and leave it un painted for a bit, can't you?
not sure if i'm doing 2 pack or enamel yet... most likely 2 pack..

It was a logical question cush .... Are you talking about stripping it back to bare metal or over some existing paint and some bare metal ? Are you painting straight away or leaving it for a while so you can finish more panels ? Most primers are porous so will let moisture in , a top coat over it will seal it though . If it's bare metal , an etch primer would be better as it get's a better hold on the surface . |

upto 3 coats of 2k etch primer on bare metal to keep surface rust away. 3 coats will block up more pores then one coat will. if you choose 2k paint it'll be easy to manage, last longer and be stronger etc. there are many good paints and everybody has their own favorite. |

yeah 2k etch primer is good stuff, if you want a really good 2pak paint then i recommend the Deltron line of PPG paints, a bit pricey but its the best paint you can get, a step down is 2k Cobra also made by PPG. If you have a Ford distribution center near you then they will stock it otherwise go to a paint and panel shop, they can point you in the right direction. Once primed you should really paint the panel or part as so as you can otherwise all you hard work will go to waste when the primer stuffs up. Cheers Brendan |

Cushie get some epoxy 2k primer, is good stuff and you can bog over it too (now that got your attention didn't it!!  ). If you have a little bit to do or a panel that can be transported I might be able to spray it for you when i do some more of my car.
Only downside is that it costs a fair bit, I think i bought enough to make 6 litres and it cost $250ish... Have a look at this site for some info: http://www.autobody101.com/forums/ Why you got a genset for, electricity company cut your supply again cause the plants are getting a bit big.... |

cheers for the offer... i was hoping to do a rolling resto (as much as i can) so i could just drive the panel down.. 
oh.. but first... i'd like to see some of your handy work to decide if it's up to my "standards"

You can spray enamel over 2 pack primer but not 2 pack over ordinary primer. Etch prime & two coats of hifill primer (all two pack) will give the best result IMHO |
