My bro attended Mudbash on the weekend. It's a Rover event where they make their own rally cars and race them.

He thought we might like to see this one, "Roger." 8)

That thing is so cool. I was expecting it to be on a patrol chassis but its a mix match of chassis. It's amazing what some people can achieve.

unfortunately the mud bash runs the same weekend as Hay, so I won't be seeing it in action anytime soon. A mate of mine who also attended mud bash told me about Roger today. I'll see if he took any video of it too.

EDIT: Lynda has been using my PC again! That was supposed to be under my username. sorry.

I'm showing my age here, as I was at the Rover Mudbash the first year this Mini appeared, sometime in the mid to late 1980s. Back then the Mudbash was held up at Big River in the mountains, up past Warburton (I think - memory is failing a bit)

The Mini was then known as Res-erection. It was a wild piece of kit and was basically the first of its kind, although at the same event there was a similar thing based on an LJ Torana, called "Blood, Sweat & Beers".

Anyway, as Res-Erection was new there were a few teething problems. In particular it still had a Mini steering rack, and with all that power (dual wheels on the rear, no less) the rack bent and the front wheels splayed out at a huge angle. The next year it came back with modified steering rack (Austin 1800 I think) and blitzed the opposition. Seeing the Mini rising over fallen trees and climbing through deep mud holes was awesome.

OK, there isn't much Mini left, but it still got everyone talking about that amazing Mini!

Cheers,
Watto.

 OK, so it worked the first time. When I checked the first post there were no pics, so I did it again and now they are there twice...just in case you wanted a second look.

Now, looking at the photos closely, it appears to be a different Mini - the number plate is different, the new version is on a seperate chassis and there appear to be no holes in the top rear of the roof.

So, is this new one the Son Of Res-erection?

I wonder.

Cheers,
Watto

I thought that too - then i considered that it's only really the bonnet that needs to be changed...
