The liquid stuff you pour in burns just as well as the oil . The metalic gloop you pour in is dangerous (don't think it's available anymore thankfully) , it's claimed to build up metal on warn parts , it builds up metal in oil galleries , bearings and cylinder heads instead ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Love the replies and I will certainly give this to a wally at work who swears by the stuff. I had my reservations and believed it was a marketing scam but never having any experience with the stuff I couldn't comment either way. You guys confirmed my suspicions. Thanks |

Lucas oil stabilizer is a wonderful thing, stopped a bearing knock in a commodore V6 motor i had a few years ago. I have seen it reduce, but not stop a engine smoking, $16 a bottle from Supercrap. Doogie |

I've used wynns stop smoke in a Mini and it worked fine. The only problem was that the increased oil viscosity caused major clutch drag and I couldn't change gears without grinding them. Tim |

Tim Again out of curiosity How bad was the engine smoke, was it only startup smoke or did it reduce continuous smoke? p.s - how cold is it in Tassie for you guys this week? white_mini_mad |

It mostly on startup but was visible any time you accelerated. I ended up using about a half dose to try to get the best compromise between reducing smoking and having the clutch still work. It helped to have clean, high quality oil in it to start with. Its been pretty cold. I had to turn the heater on in the Moke. Any colder and I'll have to start wearing long pants rather than shorts. If you have a minor smoke issue I find it can slightly reduce the problem for a few months, so it might get one of our less fiscally able brethren (ie me!) a little more time to save up for the engine rebuild but the end result is always the same. |
