On deceleration there is a tapping.knocking sound coming from the engine. For example, if I was in 3rd and rolling down a hill I can hear the noise. I can't hear it all the time though. If I put the brake on when coming up to the lights I can hear it 50% of the time.

Any ideas?

What you choose to do with your life is no business of mine....now, do you have couplings which are notorious for knocking on the gearbox or pot joints :?: and have you checked clearance :?:

Checked engine steady's :?:

Check your drivers side uni joint.

I had the same symptom.

Wore a deep groove in my gearbox casing and then eventually the joint fell apart in between Tumut and Batlow. All this happened in the space of about 50kms though. Even if they look together, check they are done up tight enough. I had rubber ones and the bolts came lose and fell off.

The ausmini community helped me out and got me back on the road. Moke owners rock!

Hey marvin,
I had the same problem, a knocking noise on deceleration, it wasn't untill I was under the car doing some maint when I spotted a shinny patch on one of the legs of my extracters. Turns out the rubber uni was that bloated, from age, that it was just touching!, easy cure, new uni's no more noise.... :D

He only gets irate when I start doing the 'tyre warmup' and turn left, right, left, right etc.
