I was just about to put my boot lid together when I discovered two different numbers on the boot hinges. One is HYA 3954 and the other HYA 3955. I checked another set and they are marked similarly.

Question - which side does which one go? Eg - is the '4' on the passenger or drivers side?

Thanks guys, Alf :?

not sure about the numbers but if you hold them up behind the car,the answer should be easy. the faces of the hinge that bolts up against the body (the face that has the gasket) are shaped to match the curve in the back of the body. if you put a RHD hinge on the left side, it will look a bit odd. have close look.

Thanks Marcello. I put them both in place and yes its obvious which one is which. The '4' goes on the drivers side. It does matter when you see them in place.

Thanks All, I continue onwards and upwards. Alf. :D :D

Alf,
As Marcello said if you look closely at the hinges along the length of them you can notice a slight curve in them. I recently got a new set from UK and they are clearly marked Left & Right. Unfortunately they are after market ones so don't have the original no's on them. Consulting my Mini K parts manual HYA3954 is the RH & HYA3955 is the LH side.
Hope this helps.
Ziff
