Post subject: | Alternator or dead battery? |
Recently the mini has been failing to start, after i jump started it yesterday i had no head lights and no indicators. I got it home and it would not start, however the head lights and indicators were working when the engine was not running. I managed to get it started this morning first try and went to take it around the block and noticed the indicators and head lights were not working, i pulled over and had a look at the head lights and they were on but really dim. I turned around to go home and gave it some high revs on the way home and the indicators and lights began to work again. I have few questions: 1. does this sound like a dead battery or perhaps an alternator problem? 2. Is there any way to test the battery or alternator with out going out and buying replacements? 3. Would there be any benefit to getting an alternator with a higher output? its a 1275 with electronic ignition Any advice would be greatly appreciated |

Get your battery tested at an auto shop. Should cost you about $10, will let you know if a cell in it is buggered. |
