hi all, I am going to try and make a floor for my boot in my 1978 mini clubman. Currently there is no floor(in the boot), the boot has the petrol tank on the left, sparetyre in the middle and the battery next to that.Has anyone made a boot floor before? Any advice on how i should go about doing it? What material should i use? Where can i get it? I intend to cover the board/floor in black carpet type material and later hook a sub and amp up in there. please post your ideas. cheers, Will |

What size fuel tank has your mini got ? If it's the standard 24 or so litre one I can send you a newspaper template of the board I have in the sports850 , it's from a cooper I believe and fits a boot with a single , standard size fuel tank . this one is made from plywood and covered in a tough vynil though others I've seen have been plywood or craftwood and covered in carpet . Depends what you want to do . there is a thread somewhere to of peoples boots and what they've done with full boot kits . I think it was called "show us ya boot" or similar . |

cheers thatd be good. the tank is standard and is around about 20L. yeh i was thinking of a ply and carpet type setup. please send anything helpfull. Cheers |

I'm not 100% sure of what it's originally out of but it fits the 850 boot nicely (so not cooper s , only made for a single tank) , 998/7 cooper perhaps ? PM me your address if you'd like a template as well . |

Basically it's just on the spare tyre (a widened rim at present but a standard rim works as well) and battery cover . It sit's flat and hasn't caused any problems yet and it's been in there for over 13 years . |

Hi Will have ago at making one they are dead simple, just start with the side's first then make the one behind the rear seat, then make the boot floor last. Make them all to a tight fit and they just lock in together you don't need any screws. I made mine in 4 to 5 hours cost was about $70.

Hey guys, I made it myself in one afternoon. Cost around $40.00 -$50.00. My advice would be to cut large and trim. I made fairly accurate measurements and then small adjustments many times over. The arcs are hard, but work with a piece of string to draw the arc and trimm as required. You will find it is almost a perfect arc anyway. I used 6mm MDF all round and I curved the front (lip/support) board around the shape of the boot opening / floor board. Carpet is from Bunnings and is pulled tight and stapled in place. There are no screws or anything else holding this entire lining in place. I have say that my non petrol tank side wall has a tendency to move if there is stuff in the boot. Thought I would rectify this with a couple of small (very small) right angle brackets attached to the floor board. The bottom slides out past the floor board. I want to keep the cavity on the drivers side as this is where the tool bag goes. Feel free to ask any questions Cheers Matt |
