With all the rain we have been having lately I have been made aware of a problem. My passenger side wiper doesnt always make a full sweep across the windscreen. In fact at times it gets so lazy it conects with the drivers wiperblade. On top of this I have also noted that after continuous use for a while they both stop moving at all. In order to start them again I have to physically move the lazy passenger wiper across the windscreen. Is there a easy substitute system,(later model) that will fit. Cheers Matt |

Couple of things: first check the splines on the drive are not stripped. The blades just pull off the drive spindle and the drive has very fine splines and the wiper similar inside. If stripped you may get away with some teflon tape as a temporary solution. Second the worm drive in the wheel boxes and the drive cable may need cleaning and relubricating with gease. - it dries out with time and goes hard. Third: ditto the motor drive inside the 'head' |

Don't marry a Clubby wiper motor onto an early 850 etc rack and wheelboxes, or it'll sweep 180* from rubber to rubber... ![]() Trust me I know this. No I've not fixed it yet, but I do have an 850 motor for it when i get a round tuit. ![]() |

Zac, As you described what yours is doing it is exactly what mine is doing. They start to shudder for a few wipes and then ......stop. |

I thought the problem may have been the arm slipping on the drive so I have checked that and inserted a small rubber strip to ensure it is tight. It must be slipping elsewhere. I shall ceck item 2. Cheers |

If you find the worm drive cable is stripped you may be able to turn it end for end - can't remember how it is attached to the drive block in the motor but. The wheel in the box may be just binding and the thing is jumping or if the wheel is stripped turn it 180° - it doesn't rotate fully just through about (30°) edit: I meant 1/3 about 120° and because of the gearing in the drive it only uses about an inch of the drive track. |

Check that the nut that holds the tubes to the WW motor has not come undone. If this happens then the flexible drive cable to the wheel boxes drive will not drive the wiper arms fully. I cxame across this recently in an MGB (same set up as a mini). Good luck |

I had these issues recently, all fixed it now. Ok, my passener side got 'lazy' then the drivers side then it slipped and whipped the bonnet on the passenger side and broke the motor. Put a chromed (bling!) clubby motor in, fixed every thing up, re-greased it all went well (with big rubber to rubber sweep, but I could live with that) Then jammed again a week later, didn't kill the motor this time. So I took it all appart found that my wheels were dead. Found some replacements, but the threads where the nut goes was dead, and I couldn't get the gear wheels off. After a week off the road I got pissed off. Went to Brickworx, bought a full Rover setup, drilled an extra hole, drilled a few little holes, bolted the whole thing in and it works great. Then just alst wek I bought the Rover wiper brightwork kit from Minisport, looks awesome now. PS Rover goes easy with non-recessed wiper, with recessed ones, more mods, than just drill another hole is required, looked at doing to the clubby, looks near impposible. |
