had my first breakdown on saturday

went into to a store, got some oil, and when i was topping up the oil i must have bumped the coil wires or something, anyway got 100m down the road, went through a roundabout and then the car cut out....on the exit of a blind corner. tried the car for a little time, still no go, then just waited a few minutes. then she finally fired up again got another 50m down the road before it just cut out again and i managed to jump into a turning lane and then i popped the bonnet. checked coil, all wires connected, hmm dizzy was all good on observation  considering i didnt want to take it apart on the side of the road. tried it for a few more times, then just rang home and got a tow....luckily was only 2km or less away and not in a busy traffic area.
got home dad checked coil then dissassembled dizzy. took out the little firing fin thingy (dunno what its called, rotor??) and it had some like arching marks on it...so dad filed that GENTLY off and put it all back together, after a little cleaning on my behalf. then she fired up first go..
still not sure if it was my ignorance that i missed a coil wire or if it was the dizzy rotor thingy but Jester's going good again....sept for a coupla times the same coil wire has come loose. im gonna try to bend it a little to make sure it stays on the coil.
Cheers

Gently filing a rotor. I usually use the "Drag the rotor across the footpath turning it as you go method"
I think your fathers way is much better but remember mine when your next out on a run and want to get home.

It's easy to carry a bit of emery cloth in your tool kit for just that kind of occasion.... :)
