Post subject: | Help - Clutch Adjustment |
Hi All, today I finished putting the motor in and connected it all up and it started first time however I have an issue with the clutch. I can not put it into gear when the car is started. I then tested by putting it into gear with the motor off, pressing the clutch pedal in and turning the enginer over to ensure the gearbox was engaging which it was and the car jumped forward. Basically my problem is pressing the clutch pedal in does not do what it should be doing (ie nothing even though the master cylinder is moving as it should be upon visual inspection) How do I adjust the clutch to do what it should be doing when the pedal is pressed down (ie disengage the clutch)? thanks white_mini_man |

Bleed the clutch. One man job. If you get a bottlewith a hose through the lid (plastic coke bottle) you can sit it up where you can see it from inside the car and pump the clutch till you have a good stream of fluid squirting into the bottle. If it continues to deteriorate then slave cylinder then master cylinder |

Are all your bits new? New clutch? Master cyl? Slave cyl? Hose? Arm? A quick check is remove the return spring on the clutch arm and pull it away from the motor the same way the slave cyl pushes it until it stops. If you have more than a few thou clearence between the arm and the adjusting bolt wind it out until you have a few thou clearence. Re-attach the spring and give that a go. If still not working then it is elsewhere. |
