Howdy,

Won an auction for a Garrett T02 for my next project on Ebay.
Pinged the seller immediately after I won, no response, pinged the next day, no response...

Anyone have any experiences?
What happened in the end?

Peter.

If you haven't had a response in a week give in and find another one (I'd leave -ve feedback)

You never know the seller might have been called away with work or something - but don't send payment until you are happy.

Yerp, happened lots of times with buying HIF carbies.

Reason was that the carby went cheap, they didn't want to let it go for that, so they simply didn't reply.

On one carby I bought, it took the seller 2 weeks to respond, but we did get our carby, eventually.

Possibly the same reason? I've mentioned to some of my friends, one of them has had the same issue many times. Won something cheap, seller simply doesn't reply. - (Note to sellers, If you don't want something to sell below a certain price, set your minimum bid at that certain price)

Anyone else with this issue? (PS my mate left negative feedback, so to did the seller on him, seller claimed that he never recieved any messages, even though many were sent.)

Whilst on the subject about e-bay, last week i bid on a set of tappet cover t-bolts, first max bid was $30.50, got knocked out, then put a max bid of $46.50, again lost out, auction then ended next thing i get a second chance offer to buy the same item @$46.50.
What's going on here ? Something doesn't seem right to me( a bit shady me think's, so they can stick em! )

Had the same thing happen with a HUGE lot of mini parts.

Bidding list was dodgy as hell.

Winning bidder didn't end up purchasing the items, no feedback was left for either party. Item lot was relisted and the starting bid upped by $1500.

I don't bother with auctions anymore, I only purchase 'buy it now' items.

I have not bought anything from ebay. Call it paranoia.

Do you find these kind of thing happen even with sellers with good feedback or that doesn't matter.

I;ve bought and sold excess mini stuff, I find it good main thing is communication.
I've had no problems, so far. Even bought a couch off ebay
talking of selling , I have a set of Ram tubes that came from Downton when I got my head work down but never fitted (although they would look great in my engine bay, plus
a new mini cd player.

I usually downplay the items so when they get them they are better than they expected so I hopefully never get - feedback

Not everyone gets online every day.
Give him a week before you get too concerned.

I have had someone come back to me after nearly two weeks because they were away - we sorted payment & he sent the stuff the next day, no worries :)

be careful of second chance offers - some times it is scammers, wanting your money, but don't own or have the goods to sell

know what you mean about bad ebayers. bought a red roll cage, but seller told me that a small part was ``missing''. :?
i said i would take it anyway - yet they said they didn't want to sell!
Guess what - the cat sold it to someone on here a few days later for a lot more money. very dodgy. :x

cheers! jon

the ones that annoy me are the ones that don't use the oodles of space to decribe their item they use 3 or 4 lines and leave out a great deal of crucial information and even lie about it

i won a bid on a diesel hiace for $1200 acording to the description it needed some rust in the roof removed i asked him was there any rust anywhere else, does the engine run, when was it last registered is there anything else wrong/missing with it?
i was told it was running,it was just out of rego, and it had nothing else wrong/missing with it

when i went to look at it the hole in the roof was big enough to climb through,
the engine did run ... after a gret deal or stuffing around
the floor was rusted out cronically and there wasn't 1 good tyre on it that wasn't bald
not to mention missing seats

in fact the photos on the auction weren't even close to up to date of what it actaully looked like

i refused to take delivery and left negative feedback , he also left negative feedback as well since then i have been a great deal wearyer and if i can inspect the item before the action ends and i haven't had a problem since

i almost bought a 84 hilux once off ebay, it was from a dealership. when i went to check it out and asked if it had a rwc his reply was "good luck mate you'll never get this in rwc"............its starting price on ebay was $3,000 and he offerd it to me for $1,800, its ad in ebay made it sound like a dream, no probs with it etc.i was the only person to see the car.
anyways towards the end of the auction people started bidding and the car sold for 3,800.

Some seller are just like that, not only on e-bay.

You go and see the car, make sure and sure he wants to sell it and get it checked out. Wanna make a full payment/deposit to the seller and he tries to avoid you and said need to go home, talk later, later and later. Keep asking how he wanted to get paid. Just say, talk later talk later. At the end, just changed his mind again and again, sell, not sell, sell, not sell, talk later, talk later. Farout..if don't want to sell it, don't bloody sell it and waste each other's time and my money. For God's sake..

At last the seller just find some stupid excuses to get pissed off himself infront of the buyer and the buyer's friend like a child and acting like a weirdo so he can avoid to sell the car. Very unhonorable person! Just breaks his words serveral times.....

Ben

I've never quite understood it myself. I sell a lot of stuff on ebay. If it's new or I would like or need a certain price I will set my start price or use a buy it now accordingly

It just seems the right thing really, and certainly what I would like to see myself as a buyer..If you take a hit, you just put it down to learning and don't make the same mistake again.

I do know of a fair number of people 'shilling'. This is where they will have a dummy account(s) and will bid to see your high bid and offer a second chance etc to bump up their price. I've had this happen but it was still a bargain so ahead I went... not right imho though
