Post subject: | Installing seats |
Just a question, I currently have non standard seats, do not know what there from at all. I picked up a set of mini seats, but how do I go about installing them?? Judging from my panel van its 4 botls at the front is this correct?? Or should there be something at the back of the seat as well, and are panel vans mounted different to sedans?? |

Your on the right track. Its a bracket which bolts to those four bolt holes on the cross member. The seat is actually only held on to that bracket by two nuts and wing nuts (one on each side). The seats just tilt forward. Clubmans have a slightly different setup, at least those with high backed "tombstone" seats. The seats have a lever to lift and the seat back folds forward with the squab remaining flat. They have a rail affair bolted to the floor which locates the rear of the seat to the floor. The front mounting remains the same. |

Thats what I thought, So I guess I have done it right... So nothing gets attached to the rear or the seat?? just the bracket and the 2 wing nuts at the front? |

Roundie or Clubbie ??? Your right about the front bit - just the bracket and the wing nuts. The rears depends on the model as I said. |

Late model Clubbies had another seat mount setup with brackets that bolted on top, instead of to the front. As Mike says, no Mini seats ever got bolted at the rear. Clubbies (which all have tilting seat backs) had 2 steel rod hoops bolted on the floor that stopped the seat base tilting forwards. |

I put round nose seats in my car, and put clubby headrests in them, they dont hold up though. Because i didnt put that little bracket thingy with a screw on them. I had no problems with the mounting, although they almost touch the doors, so its hard to do up your seatbelts when the buckle thingy is under the door pocket. |
