Ive overhauled just about everything on my car including every part in the engine bay and although it was original it didnt have any of the decals left in place. Car is a 65 Deluxe.

Im fitting it all back as it was delivered from the factory (yellow fan, black radiator, heater box, new grill mesh, etc and ....

Q: I'm wondering if there is a book or bible you guys swear by when doing this kind of resto work?

Even a period press/brochure photo of an engine bay for a Deluxe would be a great start. Seems to be lots on offer for Cooper / race variants and Austin 850's but not for the Deluxe (It cant be that much of a a rare model or was it too common that no one bothers much??).

EG: The rocker cover had what looked like gold paint on it, but this seems to be at odds with Morris green mentioned elsewhere.

Any suggestions would be great.

The gold paint on the rocker cover would be from a Morris 1100. They had a Bronze/Gold paint.

Well, it may not the gospel according to Mini De Luxe, but we had an article on the De Luxe in Issue 2 of The Mini Experience.

The magazine has sold out now, but it is available on CD.

If you just want a couple of pics, PM me your email address and I'll send a couple. If you want the whole lowdown, go to our website (www.miniexperience.com.au) and order a back issue on CD.

Cheers,
Watto.

Ive had another look at a dodgy phone pic I took of the car back in Jan - and it may just be heat blush on a dirty engine giving it a gold look.
Well if it wasnt gold it was just 'metal' or alloy coloured....

The old bird who owned it wouldnt have changed anything like an engine rocker cover and it has no documentation to say it had anything special about it apart from some of the accessories.

Thanks for your help so far.
