I am after a good place to buy a tacho. I dont want any moster tacho's or shift lights etc, just a good plain accurate tacho......for a reasonable price. any idea on brands etc? I was thinking VDO but the tacho in dads car seems to be a tad jumpy... any one know of good brands or is there a warehouse or something in NSW? |

Go for a smiths and get it direct from minispares in the UK!! The new ones are a quality, accurate instrument and look the part in a classic car. Matt |

The black faced/chrome ringed autometer guages look good, not wanky (should be able to get a sinsible sized tach), and awesom quality. But... ya gotta put Smiths in a Mini!!! |

if you want autometer(or nearly any other quality guage) the best place at the moment is ebay motors(U.S)with the dollar at 85 cents the exchange rate makes expensive guages a good buy ![]() |

There's an add in the Aus Muscle Car magazine(issue 31), Hardiman Auto Supplies is the importer (ph no- 02-87238888 ) of the old style SMITHS GAUGES, it also read's that they can be brought from Autobahn and Auto One store's as well. After all these year's they are still the best looking gauges IMO. |

Hardiman's prices are almost double what I paid to import my smiths gauges direct from the UK, after postage was taken into account. I know, we should all support the local distributors... blah blah... but when the price difference is so bloody huge? Just something to keep in mind if going smiths. Check the prices. |
