Post subject:  Clubby door problem

Hi everyone

I have a clubby door that wont open from the outside handle. Can anyone tell me what part or parts are at fault to cause this :?: :D

Cheers
Steve

Normally it's an adjustment thing , there are two rods that work the internal handle and internal lock , these also affect the external handle . Been too long since I've played with clubbie handles to know which one to adjust which way though so hopefully someone with a clubbie can help .

i had the exact problem a couple of weeks ago. take the door card off and there are two rods, wind down the window and loosen the nuts on either side of the rod. ask sports850 for more info, he was the one who told me how to do it.

i occasionally have problems with my cluby doors,

Theres a plate on the back of the handle behind the door card. theres two nuts that hold it on loosen them and adjust the plate up and down o(or both - one up and other down) and tighten, i find its trial and error to get the adjustment right.

Hope this helps Brenton

i have two peices of foam where the rods are, what use does that have, or is it just to stop them moving?

Hi all

Thanks for the replies, full marks go to Brenton, he had the answer.
I tried adjusting the rods but all they seem to control is the internal handle and locking mech.
Adjusted the bell crank as Brenton said and hey presto it works.

They affect both the inside and outside handles actually , by having them set correctly they adjust the tension on the door latch mechanism which needs to be right for the external handle to release . It's a bit of an odd system and can be a bitch to get right . Glad you got yours sorted though .

I'll have to give this a shot. My external handle is incredibly loose and hangs down. I have to jiggle it around with the key in the lock in order to find the sweet spot to open the door.

It's funny how it seems to be the LH side handle,as I have to do this on the weekend. You lift up the outside handle and it catches/snatches the door striker and won't allow the door to open
