Hi All,

My restoration for my Cooper S MKI has led me to wonder what interior the factory would of used??

the Cooper S came with black seats but i think they are from a MKII as the are the round ones not square.

Does anyone know what colour it would of been produced as? or was there different options? i am taking a guess that it would of been cream??

can anyone help?

No definitely not cream. The interior colour was a pale green which sort of went a brownish green over time. The carpets were westminister and again a grey/green colour. There have been several threads about this. the closest carpet colour and style currently available is Apple Green. I restored a Mk1 S with this exact colour scheme which won the Australian Mini Concours in 1990. Can help with other details if you need just PM me.

Try searching for thread : 1967 Cooper S Interior by Brett

There were two choices of interior with the Lake Green/Snow White Mk 1 S-
green or parchment, with matching Westminster carpet. Never any black.

I have been discussing this all day today with AJ who has exactly the same lake green/white roof 67 cooper s combo, his is originally a cream interior but he believes green is a possible alternate colour as AEG says. If you want to replace it with original colours PM him, I think he knows where to get new interiors made (not cheap though)

I've hopefully emailed you so you know the correct trim for a cooper S in lake Green I have apple carpet made by the gibbon group www.gibbon.com.au and I got a bloke called Mick 0438778288 he is a professonal trimmer and has the correct pattern. I am tryng to track down the original trim and having not much success to get the trim correct colour, I am thinking of colouring it.

He also made up a set of overmats that sit over the carpet which looks just like the carpet
Minisport1275 in adelaide (also on ebay) make the correct heel pads, you will need to buy 2 if you make the overmats Cheers Brett nosse Any worries call me on 0407124729

The parchment is actually beige . My 1967 Lake Green/White Cooper S has this colour interior , it has its original carpet and door cards . You can get a complete trim kit from Newton Commercial in the UK , for about $1600 plus postage , that includes all interior trim , seats , door cards , rear parcel shelf , speedo panels etc etc , but not the carpet . . The Aussie Mk1 trim is similar to the English . I would guess it came from there originally . I had a set made for one of my other minis and its a perfect match . Minisport in South Aus can also make a set for you , including the original type Westminster carpet used on Aussie Cooper S , but may be a bit more expensive . Give Tony a call on 08 81771275 , he's very helpful
Email Wattto from the mini experience , he has the exact names for the 2 trim colours that where available in the Lake Green/White combo ....cheers Alan

Edit : The beige does look much nicer than the green , but maybe im biased :D
Pic below of carpet , doesnt show the true colour , edging is a bit darker

Just spoke to Tony at minisport, he said that someone in wa is sending over a peice of the carpet and trimfrom a cooper S for matching and that its beige??? . was this you??

Also he quoted around $3500 for the full trim/seats/carpets. :-S

But he did say the carpet was the most expensive as it comes from Ireland... so it must the gibbon carpet.

I was living in Ireland last year and if i only knew......

I should get a mate in Dublin to get us a whole roll.... Who's in????

I should have said doeskin, not parchment. I think parchment is lighter in colour and appeared in the Mark II cars.
Lake Green is a sorta olive green, correct me if I'm wrong. Any reputable paint shop should be able to match it. Original code# 100083?
